UpDayton invites you to take in the world-class Dayton Contemporary Dance Company's performance on March 4th at an incredible price!

Rooted in the African-American experience, the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company is a culturally diverse contemporary dance company committed to reaching the broadest audience through exceptional performance and arts-integrated education.

For nearly 50 years the internationally renowned Dayton Contemporary Dance Company has fostered the growth of diverse, groundbreaking movement artists across the global stage.

Vantage Points will feature three stunning works on the Victoria Theatre stage, including a piece of national award-winning choreography and the world premiere of a new work from Ray Mercer, a cast member of Broadway's The Lion King.

Catch master choreographer Donald McKayle's "Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder," a 1959 work depicting life on a chain gang in the American South. Described by critics as "searingly resonant," the work received national recognition after DCDC performed it on NYC's Lincoln Center stage last spring in a performance hailed by the Huffington Post of one of the year's best.

Mercer's work invites the audience to step into the mind of a choreographer as he makes dance.

Rounding out the concert is high-energy favorite "Wawa Aba," created by Ohio choreographer Stafford Berry. Wawa Aba means endurance, perseverance — qualities exhibited in the African heritage that inspired Berry and by the dancers performing the increasingly athletic steps onstage.
